It’s so important to look at a photographers portfolio prior to hiring!

I know, I know. That title makes it sound like I am trying to sell an under aged person on the fact that they don't need alcohol in their life. Trying to capture images of water are as unpredictable as life itself. There is no perfect shot of water. There are shots that you will absolutely adore, but it's nature. Nature finds its own way to be imperfect in the best way it possibly can. The unpredictability of water is why it is my favorite thing to photograph. The reflection of the sky in the water. The precise reflection of anything near the water. The way that water can quickly turn into icicles when racing down the face of a rock. The fact that just a quick shift of wind can have the water splahing your face in a matter of seconds. Water is absolutely beautiful but in a very non perfect manner. Water mimics life in a manner as well. That shift of wind could as easily be a shift in careers, which could make it feel like everything is exploding in your face. Having a trust in the water to hydrate you, assist in nourishing you, and help the entire world surrounding you, means that you can trust yourself too. Water is imperfect, as are you, but you have the ability to help and change the world that surrounds you. You have the ability to nourish the minds of the people around you. And you have the ability to help quench the thirst of compassion for those around you too. The water will always welcome you with open arms, now it's your turn to open your arms and welcome others into your life! As summer starts to wind down, parents sometimes begin gathering their thoughts for family photos. Whether it's for back-to-school, or family get-togethers for the holidays. How do you get through the photography sessions without stressing out?

This is the picture that started it all. A simple picture of my brother riding a horse into the sun that is just beginning to slide below the horizon. That's the day that I fell in love with photography. The color of the sky behind the trees, the crisp color of the grass, and the beams of light that are coming from the sun. Every time I look at this picture it takes me back to that day. Back when I was still in high school. Back before my brother started working at Hanover Shooters Supply, LLC. Back before I truly understood how the world worked. I was just living for the day and was always relieved to make it through without being completely overwhelmed by everything. That picture, is the one that led me to my passion. "It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark." (Howard Ruff) I want my pictures to act as those flood waters, minus the mass destruction and multiple deaths. I want my photography to sweep individuals off their feet and take them on a spontaneous journey they would've never expected to go on. Sometimes that journey won't even have to happen out of the comfort of their own home. Let me take your hand and lead you through this beautiful world. The sun will kiss your skin, the water of the oceans will tickle your toes, and the fresh crisp air will fill your lungs. Are you ready to adventure? 7/14/2019 0 Comments What, why, and where I writeThis entire adventure diary is to allow you to see nature through my eyes. Some places you’ve probably never been to, a few you may never get the chance to see. Essentially, this is to be a guided tour of the world that surrounds me. My passion for nature has always been very prevalent in my life. When I was very young, my parents would take my siblings and I camping every summer (especially at Caledonia State Park). As we all grew older and got jobs, the camping trips became more scarce. Looking back now, I truly respect my parents for putting up with all of our remarks and requests while camping. They had both just finished 40+ hour weeks at work, all they wanted to do was lay at home in air conditioning and relax. But my siblings and I had other plans for them. We would drag them along on hikes, to amphitheater’s, to the pool, to waterfalls, to ponds. Just about anywhere we could walk to, we went. Where I grew up was not very far from Gettysburg, so one of my first memories growing up of course included there. I was about 4 years old, my one brother was in Boy Scouts and we spent the ENTIRE day walking around Gettysburg. We covered every spot of that battlefield (maybe not literally that day, but over the years I’m sure I have). But I believe that’s when my love for being outdoors started to transpire. Growing older, I became an assistant at a Nature Center. Most of the animals they had there were debilitated in some form or another. There was a bald eagle that had been hit by a car and could no longer fly because lost the necessary feathers. There were Red eared sliders (turtles) whose shells had been put back together, like a puzzle, after being hit by a car. Some of my favorite experiences are from that nature center. As for now, I reside in Virginia and I love it. The areas around are absolutely beautiful! And I can’t wait to bring you all with me on my future endeavors! 7/13/2019 0 Comments Welcome!Welcome to my Adventure Diary!
I have known for years that I was not the type of person that wanted to be inside all day everyday. I mean who really wants to do the whole stereotypical 9-5 shift anyway? Wouldn't you rather be outside trying to comprehend the beauty of the world around you? (Just to be clear, I like air conditioning too especially when it's 89 degrees feeling like it's 101 degrees because of the 90% humidity... thank you Virginia). Being an adventure and travel photographer is something I've debated doing for a long time, so why not? There is nothing that can hold me down from pursuing my passion. Yes, there is a giant learning curve when it comes to photography because of the "newfangled" social media aspect. However, social media sites such as instagram and facebook allow me to share the beauty I see with people from around the world! All of this to say, welcome to my adventure and I can not wait to show you the beauty of the world that surrounds all of us! |
